“It’s never too late to channel the queen in you” Bridgette Matjuda, Mrs Universe Africa semi-finalist

Bridgette Matjuda is proof that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. At 35, the mother of two beautiful girls is a semi-finalist for Mrs. Universe Africa. She talks to me about how she juggles everything.

Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I hail from the city of gold and hustle – Johannesburg. I love a good read, networking, supporting other women, and fulfilling The Great Commission. My pride and joy are my two baby girls: Rethakgetse and Mamoratwa. I live to serve humanity with the love from above modeled by our Saviour.

You are a Mrs. Universe Africa semi-finalist 2021. Please tell us about that.
I entered on the last day after having seen a link shared by a Mrs. South Africa Semi-Finalist – Tshego Dludla on her Facebook page. Then I completely forgot about it and moved on with my life. Days later, I was over the moon when I got that life-changing congratulatory email and the rest as they say is history!

How has the journey been so far?
The Mrs. Universe Africa journey has been nothing short of amazing! I’m learning a lot about myself and I thoroughly enjoy connecting with my fellow contestants at the workshops – It’s definitely an AWESOME sisterhood!
Personal growth and development are in leaps and bounds. It’s definitely out of my comfort zone and my first ever beauty pageant EVER! I’m fetching my dreams and fetching my life!

How do you juggle motherhood, self-care, and being a Mrs. Universe Africa Semi-Finalist?
Honestly, only by the grace and mercy of The Most High! I start my day at 3 AM with prayers until 6 AM so for me being connected with my Maker sets the tone for the day. It also helps that I plan everything and have a to-do list. Some days are more challenging than others and some days are more fabulous than others.

How do your babies feel about their mommy being part of such a huge competition?
My baby girls are absolutely THRILLED, EXCITED, and SUPER PROUD OF ME. It’s the BEST feeling in the world to have my besties’ unwavering support and unfailing love!

What would winning this competition mean to you?
It would mean THE WORLD to me! Having such a powerful platform to take The Great Commission and sisterhood to a whole new level – On a global scale is PHENOMENAL! History would be made like never before!

What advice would you give a mommy who thinks it’s too late to pursue her dreams?
Mommy dearest, take it from me sis – It’s never too late to channel the queen in you; to fetch your dreams and to fetch your life. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, yesterday is gone so live your best life NOW with no regrets. SHINE and CONQUER! You are beautiful and worthy of it all!
